The Pilot of the Leviathan biomechanoid Rovhu was bonded to his ship after she was being used as a prison transport by the Peacekeepers. When Rovhu was attacked by Scarrans, the sole prisoner on the ship managed to escape and gain control. This was Kaarvok, who used a device to "twin" the Peacekeepers aboard -- ultimately turning them into the mindless Xarai.
In order to gain control of the ship, Kaarvok had sliced Pilot's neural pods -- weakening his link to Rovhu. Meanwhile the Xarai had taken to cutting off and devouring the Pilot's regenerative arms. The traumatized Pilot was nearly catatonic when John Crichton, Ka D'Argo, Chiana and Jool boarded the ship. Pilot did notice Crichton -- and begged for death. He recounted, as best as he was able, the horrible things he had endured. Thinking it would help, Crichton attempted to hook Pilot back up to Rovhu -- but while he worked to do this, an unknown assailant impaled Pilot through his head.
