The Yonada was a spaceship built into an asteroid. A group of Fabrini, later called the Creators, built the vessel in order to allow their species some hope of survival after the star in their planetary system began to go supernova. They picked the most notable and worthy members of their species to crew the ship. The ship was roughly 320 kilometers in diameter. It was propelled by atomic energy, which left behind a trail of radiation and debris, and was capable of correcting for gravitational stress. It was armed with chemically-fueled missiles.
The Yonada left Fabrina before the planet's destruction. It traveled through space under the control of a complex computer system. The computer was programmed to seek out a habitable world where the Fabrini could establish a new colony. Over the millenia, those aboard came to believe the computer was a deity and called it the Oracle of the People. A sophisticated religion was developed around this belief.
The crew of the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701) encountered the vessel when a navigational error put it on a collision course with the planet Daran V. They helped those aboard understand that they were living aboard a spaceship, and were able to correct the navigational error so that the colonists could safely find a new home.
